Who I am and What I am Doing Here

My name is Dana Faulkner and my passion is to help women learn the habit of self-care to achieve healthy weight loss.

I am an AADP Board Certified Health & Wellness Coach & in the past I was a NASM Certified Personal Trainer with a specialization in Corrective Exercise. I graduated from the The Institute For Integrative Nutrition & have taken classes at the Institute For Functional Medicine. While I am no longer a practicing Personal Trainer, I believe human movement and practicing correct form is essential to living a full, functional life. I also believe whole, ancestral, and traditional foods are the mainstay of a healthy lifestyle.

Most of my adult life, I have been a successful manager at a thriving company. I was in charge, always knowing the right answer and putting all my energy into making sure the business ran successfully. But once I left for the day, my life was utter chaos; I was doing everything just to get by, not making time for self-care. Because of this, I was always sick with colds, unhappy, overweight, tired, lightheaded, and had numerous digestion problems. The confusing part was I always thought this was normal, after all I was “eating healthy.” Like most people, I had no idea there would be so much misleading health and nutrition information out there, and because I had little time outside of work to think about it much, I blindly trusted the conventional wisdom of eating a low-fat diet and making sure I consumed plenty of whole grains. By the age of 32, I was obese – just like many, many Americans are. I knew I had to do something. So I started making time to read. A LOT. The more I learned, the more passionate I grew about this cause and knew intuitively that human beings should not be this sick and fat, that there had to something fundamentally wrong with our food system and what we were being told. And sold.

I was right.

Through many trials and errors, years of research, head-scratching, fear-busting, and learning to live outside of my comfort zone, I have completely changed my life. I am no longer sick, tired, unhappy, & I have lost over 50 pounds. I lift heavy weights and walk everywhere, and I grow stronger everyday. But the most profound lesson I have learned so far in my journey is that there is no substitution for self-love. I learned that in order to find the strength to change, I had to forgive myself for my poor choices, let go of my self- judgment, and believe in myself.  The result? FREEDOM!!! And I am not finished! I still have more work to do in my life and as my schedule permits, I will be blogging about what I am doing to attain my personal goals so I can be the best example of my passion to heal as I can be.





So in my 40’s, I finally figured out how to balance my time between taking care of myself and my career. I became certified as a Health Coach & a Personal Trainer so I could help other women change their lives like I changed mine. I want to help other women experience the freedom of not being a slave to food or their body weight or their diet-related illnesses or their negative self-talk. I want to help other women reduce stress, have more energy, get stronger, sleep better, solve common digestion issues, and actually love their lives! I want to help YOU. If I can change my life, you can change yours too!
