Who I am and What I am Doing Here

My name is Dana Faulkner and my passion is to help women over 40 learn the GLORIOUS habits of self-care to feel better and get their vitality back! My programs all focus on sleep, stress, food, movement, and digestion. I can help you with that!

I may look normal in my picture, but I assure you that I am not! (watch any of my videos and you will see for yourself!) I am definitely not the stereotypical perfect-looking, perfect-speaking health coach. I am more like a weird, silly, imperfect, passionate outlier who has become a health detective! I get down to the root causes of your diet-related or lifestyle-related health issues and help you dance gloriously in the muck as we figure it all out together! I have always been someone who is happiest living at the fringes with my wild, nonconformist tribe. I want you to be a part of that tribe!

I am an AADP Board Certified Health & Nutrition Coach & NASM Certified Personal Trainer with a specialization in Corrective Exercise. I graduated from The Institute For Integrative Nutrition & have taken classes at the Institute For Functional Medicine. Since I believe ancestral and traditional foods are the mainstay of a healthy life, and that we should all be free to grow and eat any food we want to, I am also a proud member of the Weston A. Price Foundation & The Farm To Consumer Legal Defense Fund.

Most of my adult life, I have been a successful manager at a thriving company. I was in charge, always knowing the right answer and putting all my energy into making sure the business ran successfully. But once I left for the day, my life was utter chaos; I was doing everything just to get by, not making time for self-care. Because of this, I was always sick with colds, unhappy, overweight, tired, lightheaded, and had numerous digestion problems. The confusing part was I always thought this was normal, after all I was “eating healthy.” Like most people, I had no idea there would be so much misleading health and nutrition information out there, and because I had little time outside of work to think about it much, I blindly trusted the conventional wisdom of eating a low-fat diet and making sure I consumed plenty of whole grains. By the age of 32, I was obese – just like many, many Americans are. I knew I had to do something. So I started making time to read. A LOT. The more I learned, the more passionate I grew about this cause and knew intuitively that human beings should not be this sick and fat, that there had to something fundamentally wrong with our food system and what we were being told. And sold.

I was right.

Through many trials and errors, years of research, head-scratching, fear-busting, and learning to live outside of my comfort zone, I have completely changed my life. I am no longer sick, tired, unhappy, & I have lost over 50 pounds. I lift heavy weights and walk everywhere, and I grow stronger every day. But the most profound lesson I have learned so far in my journey is that there is no substitution for self-love & self-compassion. I learned that in order to find the strength to change, I had to forgive myself for my poor choices, let go of my self-judgment, and finally believe in myself.  The result? FREEDOM!!! And I am not finished! I still have more work to do in my life! As my schedule permits, I will be blogging about what I am doing to attain my personal goals so I can be the best example of my passion for self-improvement as I can be!

So in my 40’s, I finally figured out how to balance my time between taking care of myself and my career. I became certified as a Health Coach & Personal Trainer so I could help other women transform their lives like I transformed mine. I want to help women experience the freedom of not being a slave to food or their body weight or their diet-related illnesses or their negative self-talk. I want to help women reduce stress, have more energy, get stronger, sleep better, solve common digestion issues, and actually love their lives. I want to help YOU! Believe me, if I can change my crazy-ass life, you can change yours too!!
